Multi-Vehicle Collision On Western Highway – Three Killed Near Ledcourt

LEDCourt, Grampians, Victoria — Three people have died following a fatal multi-vehicle collision on the Western Highway near Mount Drummond Road on Sunday evening, September 27, 2026.

Emergency medical crews, country fire personnel, and Victoria Police responded to the scene in Ledcourt at approximately 6:45 p.m. Preliminary information indicates that the crash involved an MG SZ, a Mitsubishi Triton utility vehicle and a commercial pickup truck.

Two occupants of the MG SZ died at the scene from injuries sustained in the collision. Three teenagers from another vehicle were transported by air ambulance to regional trauma centres for medical treatment. A 14-year-old female passenger later died from injuries suffered in the crash.

Investigation Underway

Victoria Police Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Crash reconstruction specialists examined the scene, vehicle wreckage and collision patterns while the Western Highway between Stawell and Ararat was closed for an extended period.

Investigators are working to determine how the vehicles collided and whether factors such as speed, fatigue or environmental conditions contributed to the crash. No such factor has been established as the cause at this stage.
